I had already put the beads in the plywood so it's a wonderful mix of colors - edged in gold and the blue spine beads of are topped with gold leaf for some extra shimmer. Recycled ply-wood, glass beads, mirror, polymer clay , saftey glass, beach glass and a marble. 15" X 6 1/2"

My mosaic fish are a really fun way to recycle. I scrounge pices of board and plywood from building sites, trace out my pattern, jigsaw out the design and prep the wood by sanding, filling, sanding agian and priming.
Then the imagination takes over and i use a variety of materials including but not limited to: Vintage and newer china, cup handles, earrings, beads, mirror, polymer clay, sea glass broken saftey glass, wire and really just about anything that strikes my fancy.
After grouting the mosaic , I clean it and usually give a light sanding again to the edges, paint the edges and back and add a hanger.  The painted edges are also urethaned to protect the paint from chipping.
Because the base is wood I don't advise displaying out in the weather. On a covered porch they would be fine. I find them in my own home in the bathroom , the livingroom and the bedroom ! Wonderful home decor near or far from the shore. ~ Margaret
